Little ways to say I love you

Little ways to say, “I love you” (Written 2016)

There are words so swelling in my heart that my tongue wants to perform them. But they are too heavy to be heard, so out of respect for him, I keep under lock and key just how much adoration I have, and how much time I devote to trying to bring out that laugh.

I’ll just keep finding little ways to take care and hold, without ever touching the soul that I’m fond of. Finding prudent ways to respond. Learning how to let him go. I’ll be alright just praying for him at night. God, please keep and bless him, as he helps me to learn my lesson. That to be in love you don’t need to say:

I  want you, I need you, I miss you, and oh I long to kiss you. To hold and to be held by you, to unwind and give my time for the rest of my life. Finding these Little ways to say, “I love you.”

There are words so present in my mind that my body wants to act them out. I think about him all the time and it hasn’t lessened as the months come about. I feel like a child being scolded and at the same time a woman whose unfolding into something new.

The same things throughout the day.
